What defines a great destination? Quality hospitality services! Value for your vacation dollar! No matter how you define it, Niagara is one destination wonder after another.
Niagara is also becoming famous as a gourmet dining destination. Many restaurants feature regional cuisine which marries locally grown food products with local wines.
In the spring of 2007, the Niagara Region Public Health Department introduced the ‘NiagaraInfoDine’ website. This program posts on the Niagara Region website the inspection results completed in restaurants in the Niagara Region.
The website has many benefits for the public and restaurants. It has been created to improve food handling, reduce food poisoning, and educate people about food safety. These types of websites have been created in other regions and have shown to improve food safety.
One food handling mistake in even the best restaurant can lead to food poisoning. Therefore, the operators of all restaurants are careful to make sure that their restaurant is clean and that food is cooked properly. When a Public Health Inspector visits a restaurant they will check to make sure of this. A report is then completed and posted on the internet. It includes any problems found in the restaurant, the date of the inspection, the number of problems and what the problem was.
