Along The Lake Erie Shore

For generations of Niagara visitors, the Lake Erie Shore has stood for fresh summer breezes, warm water, sand beaches, fun in the sun, and picture perfect sunsets. The area is easily accessed by Highway 3, an Ontario heritage route which is part of the Talbot Trail. A lakeshore tour begins in the City of Port Colborne.
Port Colborne is the southern entrance to the Welland Canal Corridor for motorists traveling the Greater Niagara Circle Route.
Sugarloaf Harbour Marina is one of the largest and best-equipped marinas on Lake Erie. The adjacent H.H. Knoll Park, with paddleboats, mini-putt golf, children's playground, wading pool and picnic area, is a great place for families to spend an hour, or a day. Historic West Street is a perfect place fo view unique waterfront shops, enjoy a meal or drink at an outdoor café, or sit and watch the world go by.
Port Colborne's Nickle Beach, Holloway Bay to the east near Sherkston, and Long Beach to the west in Wainfleet have developed an international reputation for wind and board surfing.
A short drive along Highway 3 west from Port Colborne leads to Horseplay Niagara. Try an exhilarating ride through beautiful trails for an adventure you'll never forget! Continue on to the Town of Wainfleet and the summer vacation centres of Long Beach and Lowbanks. Marshville Heritage Village contains buildings and displays focusing on 19th century life in a rural agricultural community. Historical demonstrations and one of the biggest juried craft shows in Ontario are held at Marshville on Labour Day weekend.
East of Port Colborne is Sherkston Shores Resort* (Empire Road), a recreational facility with waterslides, picnic groves, water sport rental, more than 2 miles of golden beach and one of the largest campgrounds in North America.
Both Crystal Beach and the adjoining community of Ridgeway are known for their antique shops, boutiques and galleries. Together Ridgeway, Wainfleet, Port Colborne and the Highway 3 corridor contain more that 30 outlets selling antiques, crafts and collectibles.
