From early spring to late fall we live in a paradise of blossoming orchards, century-old farms, stately vineyards, lush fields, farmers' markets and roadside stands. Experience fresh fruit from the source- an abundance of sun-ripen peaches, plums, apples, cherries and apricots. From field to field, the ongoing harvest is a rainbow of sweet peppers, zucchini, cabbage, snow peas, garlic, shallots and vine-ripened tomatoes.
Centrally located in St. Catharines historic downtown, the newly restored farmer's market is the longest running market in Ontario that offers a variety of fresh produce and an assortment of fare from a number of friendly vendors. The market operates every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday year round. It is also an ideal starting point for a walking tour of the commercial core and residential heritage district of downtown St. Catharines.
Montebello Park is one of the most predominant features of St. Catharines. Enjoy live entertainment at the pavilion every Tuesday and Sunday throughout the summer months. Montebello park is also an ideal spot for an afternoon picnic under the large trees or in the gazebo or walk down tree-lined Queen Street and admire some of the best preserved Victorian architecture in the city.
The extensive waterways, trail systems and parklands of St. Catharines create a natural network of recreational opportunities that include fishing, sailing, boating, hiking, cycling, golfing- the possibilities are endless!
Enjoy wildlife at its best, visit Stokes Seeds Flower Trial Gardens, located on Lakeshore road, between Seventh Street and Fifth Street. One of the official sites of All-American Trials. Take a walk through the Gardens and witness the abundant display of plant life, truly a site to behold. The Gardens are most beautiful during July and August.
